I often start my day reading the headlines on the New York Times homepage and tonight I decided to read what’s happening at the end of the day and found a photographic slideshow of Obama’s new staff.
I was obsessed with the TV show The West Wing and find myself this very evening – green with envy as I skim through the new staffers in the White House. Among them are 3 people in their 20’s one, Jon Favreau who is 27 and Obama’s head speechwriter especially interests me. I think mostly because he’s my same age – and has accomplished so much! This young man’s work will be something that college kids and high school kids study.
I’m about to embark on my 28th year this Sunday and I can’t help but think of what my life has been about in my 20’s. And looking at this list, it doesn’t seem to be about much. But I can’t compare myself to people who have given their lives so freely to politics. I had my choice a few years back and I didn’t choose it. But I think this serves to be a really good wake up call – to live my life with more intention and more love.
Okay 28.. I’m ready for you!
